Who is Major Lazer Anyway?
Major Lazer is an American electronic dance music and DJ trio, currently consisting of record producer Diplo and DJs Walshy Fire and Ape Drums. The group was founded in 2008 by Diplo and Switch, with Switch leaving in 2011 and being replaced by Jillionaire, who was later succeeded by Ape Drums in 2019.
Their music spans numerous genres, mixing reggae with dancehall, reggaeton, soca, house, and moombahton. Major Lazer has released several successful albums, including “Peace Is the Mission” in 2015, featuring the hit single “Lean On” with MØ and DJ Snake.
In 2023, Major Lazer reunited with their original lineup, including Switch, to release a new version of their track “Where’s The Daddy?” featuring M.I.A., marking their first collaboration in over a decade.
